ABOUT THE PLACE

San Angelo KOA, Texas

We spent one night here in May 2026, a quick stop on our drive across Texas. We had a pull-through site with full hookups near the dog walk, which is exactly what you want when the plan is to roll in, sleep and keep moving. Our full field report is still being written, so here is what to know about the place itself.

The short version

San Angelo KOA Holiday is a privately run campground on Knickerbocker Road on the south side of San Angelo, in Tom Green County. KOA lists RV sites, tent sites and cabins, and the pull-through sites have 50 and 30 amp service.

The neighborhood

  • Lake Nasworthy is about a mile away. The city runs parks on the lake, including Knickerbocker Park and Middle Concho Park.
  • Fort Concho was established as a US Army post along the Concho River in 1867 and was home to cavalry and infantry units, including Buffalo Soldiers. It was abandoned in 1889 and is now a National Historic Landmark, with 23 of its original limestone buildings still standing.
  • San Angelo grew up across the river from the fort and became the seat of Tom Green County in 1882. The railroad arrived in 1888 and the town became a hub for cattle and wool.
  • The Concho River is known for Concho pearls, naturally formed in freshwater mussels in shades of pink and purple.

Good to know

  • RV check-in is 2 pm and check-out is 11 am. Early check-in is available for a fee.
  • The campground has a pool, which listings say opens for the warm months, so check dates if that matters to you.
  • Pets are welcome on a leash, and reservations go through KOA.

Facts checked October 2026. Things change, so check the official site before you go.
