ABOUT THE PLACE
Celebrity Solstice
We crossed the Pacific to Hawaii on the Celebrity Solstice, a repositioning cruise, and it became Episode 2. Here is what to know about it.
The short version
Celebrity Solstice is the first of Celebrity Cruises' Solstice series of ships, and it made its inaugural sailing in November 2008. Celebrity lists it at 121,878 gross tons and 1,041 feet long, with room for 2,852 guests.
The Solstice series
- Solstice led a class of five ships. Its sisters are Celebrity Equinox, Eclipse, Silhouette and Reflection.
- Celebrity lists the ship's cruising speed at 24 knots.
What it is known for
- The Lawn Club, a half acre of real grass on the top deck, used for picnics, bocce, croquet and live music. Celebrity says Solstice was the first ship to have a real grass lawn at sea.
- Celebrity also says it was the first ship to offer a hot glass class onboard, with glassblowing demonstrations at sea.
- Most staterooms have a private veranda. Celebrity puts the share at about 80 percent.
Good to know
- The ship was refurbished in 2026. Celebrity's current listing includes new venues such as Trattoria Rossa, Fine Cut Steakhouse, the Boulevard Lounge and The Parlor, plus updated staterooms and an expanded AquaClass, so some spaces may differ from what earlier guests saw.
- Recent itineraries have included Alaska, Hawaii, Asia and Australia, with repositioning sailings between seasons.
- Check Celebrity's ship page for the current deck plan and venue list before you sail.
